​Science curriculum in early childhood classrooms can be a difficult addition to the normal curriculum that is already in place. Some early childhood classrooms have a pre-existing curriculum that they are urged to adhere to, while others simply cannot find the time to implement new subjects or routines. 
It is critical to provide fact-based, evidence supported information when delivering a science lesson no matter how simple or complex. How you deliver the lesson is completely up to you. Whether you create a lesson plan about the solar system by creating a model, or having children dress up as planets and orbit around the teacher as the sun, it is a science lesson that will teach your students about one of the many important realms of science. ​
The goal of STEM is to create a way of thinking about the world that encompasses problem-solving, discovery and analyzation.
Infants begin their environmental exploration from birth by observing and creating knowledge about everything in their lives. As part of the scientific exploration in an infant’s life, they observe, experiment, analyze and communicate their findings. These scientific experiments will continue into the toddler years and become more intricate as they become preschoolers. ​
​Caregivers and child care professionals should be aware of the importance of STEM as well as the support that they provide both directly and indirectly. A typical early childhood classroom should be designed and maintained with STEM concepts in mind, as well as the interactions between teacher and peers.
