  • Children will develop their musical abilities
CDA Competency Standard:

  • Activities and materials encourage children to dance, move and develop their musical abilities.
a. Music and dance/movement materials and activities are available for children daily

Materials: 
  • Materials that make sounds when shaken
  • Maracas
  • Jingle bells
Procedure: 
  1. Encourage children to explore things that make a sound when you shake them. They might be considered an instrument per se, such as salt and pepper shakers, clear plastic jars filled with toys or art supplies, plastic bags or paper bags filled with various materials, etc.
Assessment: 
  • Observe and record children’s music and rhythmic abilities.
