Science for early childhood education comes primarily in the form of sensory experiences.

Children are exploring the sights, sounds, smells, touch, and taste of things all around them. This includes children making observations, testing hypotheses, analyzing data and using these experiences as they explore new concepts in their world. Allowing children a space to concentrate on these scientific concepts and discoveries is a great outlet for their exploration and cognitive development as well as a fun sensory experience. Science and play really do go hand in hand and should be encouraged as much as possible.

Science is the study of the natural world and all of its laws which includes biology, physics and chemistry.

The most important aspect of the study of science is that the use of facts, concepts, controls, and tests are used to prove or disprove scientific theories with evidence. Over time, these scientific theories may be elaborated, further studied, or connected to new or different ideas. Science is always changing, but it stays factual and evidence-based no matter what.

Basic scientific concepts are explored through the use of all 5 senses.

Young children are at a prime developmental stage to begin to understand basic scientific concepts. It is critical to provide fact-based, evidence supported information when delivering a science lesson no matter how simple or complex. How you deliver the lesson is completely up to you.

Whether you create a lesson plan about the solar system by creating a model, or have children dress up as planets and orbit around the teacher as the sun, it is a science lesson that will teach your students about one of the many important realms of science. No matter your opinion or interest in different science subjects, you must remain factual and unbiased in your delivery of science lessons and information.
